Project 136: Thermal Imager Project Update 12: Interpolation

by on Sep.30, 2015, under Inventions, Tutorials

I have finished my interpolation code. The resolution has increased, but not to the extent that I had hoped. I am noticing increased definition in the image, which is proof of concept at least. I think in general the image quality is good enough now, I don’t think I need to look into any more post-processing or interpolation techniques for the moment.

The next goals for the project will be to add the TFT screen to the Arduino, and look into implementing video. I am not sure if the Arduino Due will be fast enough for video, but it is worth trying.

The image on the left is the scaled, raw image. The image on the right is the same image using interpolation. Notice the somewhat finer detail in the interpolated image.
The image quality is also excellent, I can even see the headphones that I am wearing!

As before, the code for this project is available on my github HERE.
