I have had a few additional issues with the AI ships.
The issues were related to the AI not being able to decelerate in time when approaching the players position.
I think I have managed to fix these issues by allowing the AI ships to know what the players velocity is, so that they can use that to control their own velocity.
There are still some issues to fix with this, but it seems to generally be working.
