P-172: Unity: Space Environment: Part 11
I have finished modelling, texturing, and aligning the four main connecting tunnels in the structure.
The structure is composed of several separate objects, and one of the challenges so far has been to get these aligned perfectly with each other. I was using a connector model, which would cover up the joins between the different components, but this really didn’t look good.
Instead, I duplicated the polygons at one side of the joint, and attached them to the object to be joined. I could then make sure they lined up perfectly, and this seems to be working.
I eventually want to implement a modular system, so that the user can, in game, construct complex structures by selecting and combining objects. It will be some time before I will be able to implement a system like this, given the complexity of this task.
I am happy with my results so far though.
