P0-P-172: Part 54: More Gui’s: Damage modelling, targeting, etc
I have completed the “operation” menu for the shuttle.
The different buttons on the gui will change colour to reflect damage: green for no damage, yellow for repairable damage, and red for severe, irreparable damage.
At the moment, I am hardcoding the engine damage, to make sure the shuttle always crashes, but the other damage is added randomly.
In future, I will add a complex damage system which will apply damage to various components based on the unique circumstances, such as the type of weapon used, the location of the hit, etc etc.
I have also added realistic “damage effects”. If a missile hits the shuttle, I have smoke, fire, sparks, and flame effects that will be created. This looks great. Along with the visual effects, there are various alarms that will sound based on the damage sustained. One for minor damage, one for major damage. This all works very well.
