P-154: KVM Server: Build and Configuration
I have completed the construction of the KVM server, I am actually making this post from the server machine now. The build seemed to go ok, except for one issue I had where the fans would spin up and the motherboard lights would come on, but nothing could be seen on the screen. I eventually […]
Data Recovery with DDRescue
ddrescue is a linux based tool for recovering data from failed or failing hard disks. I had the unfortunate need to use this tool on a badly corrupted (and partially physically damaged) disk some time ago, and I would like to post about it’s incredible effectiveness. The disk in question was a 250GB laptop disk. It […]
Upcoming T3D Development/Test Server Rental
I am currently constructing a server for the purposes of hosting games and programming projects. This is very much a test of a wider concept, and a learning opportunity for me. I am aiming the server at mainly T3D or other amateur game developers and software programmers. Having a dedicated server available with which to […]
P-152: Virtual World Concept Update 25: Spherical Terrain: Polysoup Collision
I have finally made some progress with the collision system, after having been stuck for some time. I have managed to get a collision mesh created, and item collision working, but player collision is still not working. I am very close to figuring this out. I tried various different ideas to get collision working, from […]
P-152: Virtual World Concept Update 24: Spherical Terrain: Polysoup Collision
I have been working on implementing collision for the Spherical Terrain that I have created. My intention was to build on my previous success with the simple collision box by using a poly list instead. This poly list would be built from the polys that are within a certain radius of the player. What I […]
Procedural Content in Games: .kkrieger
While researching new ideas and concepts for procedural content in games recently, I remembered a game that I played a long time ago, which had exceptional graphics but took up only a few kilobytes of space, games are made to entertain people, and that’s why content is important and people like to play games to […]
P-152: Virtual World Concept Update 23: Spherical Terrain: Collision Concept Test
I have succeeded in implementing a simple box Collision hull for my spherical terrain. I have basically created a square collision hull and aligned it to the bounds box. I have confirmed player collision is working against this box. This is an excellent starting point for implementing the much more advanced collision system that I […]
New Business Cards
I just received my new business cards. I got them from Vistaprint, I think they came out very well. I could have made the logo smaller, and the writing bigger, but they look good. I had them branded with “Phoenix Advanced Concepts” to make them more generically appropriate.
