P0-P-172: Part 49: Shuttle Dialogs, Bug fixes
I have finished just one of the gui designs for the shuttle’s control consoles. This one is the “missile warning” gui.
I actually made at least three different versions of this until I got something that I was happy with. I also tried several different html editors, such as google web designer, blue griffon, and finally, pingendo. I was trying to find a “drag and drop” HTML UI editor, but I just can’t seem to find one, so I had to write the HTML myself.
I don’t have a lot of experience with HTML/CSS, etc, so this took some time. I am hoping that I can either learn to be faster at creating dialogs this way, or find a program that makes this easier. I think, at the moment, it’s more the laying out of the gui that it taking the most time.
Another win for this week was that I finally fixed a bug that was plaguing me since I first introduced the Space Exploration Engine. This bug was causing the player to be pulled in one direction at seemingly random intervals. I, again, believed this to be a complex bug, and postponed it, but I had a look at it this week and it was related to a script which, for the moment, seems non essential. It is the gravity manage script in the SEE, and it is set to update every 20 seconds. Each time this update occurred, it triggered the bug.
I will probably need to rewrite or modify this file in the future, but the gravity seems to work fine now. I suspect that this gravity manager is for true “3D” gravity.
I also created some additional art which I still need to texture. I will probably get to it before the end of this month.
My next goals are to finish the gui’s, add in the Character system for the players Avatar, improve the AI further, and do more texturing.
