P-167: Paranoia: Update 11: Art Assets Part 2
I have almost finished the interior objects for this project. I have created about 15 objects, some of which have some slightly different variations, and I have unwrapped and textured them.
The textures are quite basic at this point, and will need to be improved. In particular, I need to modify the base texture to allow for dirt, grime, and signs of wear, which will be in keeping with the atmosphere of the game.
These objects should be more than enough to properly test the random object creator, however. I have fixed a number of bugs with it already, but I am still concerned that random placement of objects will not look aesthetically pleasing in a game. Most games don’t do procedural content like this, the level would instead be constructed by a level designer, with objects places in intelligent locations.
For this project however, I wanted totally random levels, and I am not quite sure if it is even possible to create and populate a game world with objects completely dynamically and have it look at feel natural. This is one of the main aims of this project.
