{"id":3497,"date":"2016-08-21T21:30:01","date_gmt":"2016-08-21T20:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/phoenixgamedevelopment.com\/blog\/?p=3497"},"modified":"2016-08-21T21:31:07","modified_gmt":"2016-08-21T20:31:07","slug":"p-152-virtual-world-concept-update-159-planet-sized-terrain-part-38","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/phoenixgamedevelopment.com\/blog\/p-152-virtual-world-concept-update-159-planet-sized-terrain-part-38\/","title":{"rendered":"P-152: Virtual World Concept Update 159: Planet-sized Terrain: Part 38"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I believe that I have now, finally, solved the issues that I was having with planetary distance scaling.<\/p>\n<p>There were some additional performance issues that I needed to solve, and some logical issues that needed to be fixed, but the system now seems to work quite well.<\/p>\n<p>The transitions between tiers will likely need some work, and Tier-2 may need additional subdivision within it as the player approaches the planet, but I think I have done enough for MS2.<\/p>\n<p>I have also solved some problems relating to the correct scale of the planet given it&#8217;s distance and level of detail.<\/p>\n<p>The next goal should be the last major goal of MS2. This is basically to put everything together by combining the 64-bit and 32-bit &#8220;spaces&#8221; and doing extensive testing to make sure that the &#8220;snapshots&#8221; that I am taking of 64-bit space are correctly mapping out the world. I will need to look at player movement in 32-bit space, and make sure that the user can actually adjust their world space distance (and the world snapshot) correctly.
