I seem to be making some progress with my art skills.
For my current scene, I am designing a kind of recreation area. I am aiming for a contrast between the sci-fi design of the ship itself, and a retro feel.
The idea is that adding some old-style details, like the telescope shown below, and old style wooden furniture, etc, will make the recreation area feel more “comfortable” than the rest of the ship, while still being in keeping with the general art style and aesthetics.
