P0-A1: Part 375: Daz3D

by on May.20, 2018, under Astral Realms, P-0, Software and Games, Spiritus Astrum

I have started working with the Daz3D suite to create very highly detailed characters.

Daz 3D is, as far as I’m aware, the parent company that is responsible for the Morph3D character system, which I am also using in my project.

The morph3D character system is designed for realtime use in games, which is why I am using it, however Daz3D seems to have higher quality models and more customisation options and third-party packages available.

It is designed more for rendering than realtime use, however it is possible to export Daz character to unity, in .FBX format, with animations, etc, easily.

Due to the apparent ease of using Daz assets in Unity, I may have some use for the higher-resolution models that daz provides in future. There are issues however, mainly with licensing, cost (Daz assets are expensive) and with the fact that Daz characters can’t be customised in real time like morph 3D characters can.
