P0-A1: Part 370: Optimisations/Debugging

I have purchased THIS asset, which is basically a navigation HUD, including a 2D radar, a compass, and onscreen indicator arrows pointing to specific objects.
I am going to use this asset to come up with a new navigation system for this project, since the 3D radar by itself doesn’t seem accurate enough to be used for navigating at very long distances (which is required in a space sim).
I have a lot of work to do on GUI’s and user interfaces in future, but even a simple on screen arrow should work for now.
The problem is that the asset is a screenspace asset, IE, it functions like most on-screen HUDS, and is attached to the player camera. I am going for a very realistic approach in my project, and in real life, people can’t see arrows in their field of vision telling them where to go. So, I have decided to modify this asset to work in world space.
I am then going to create a HUD display, similar to what a fighter jet would have, so that I can display information in the world in a realistic way.
This is requiring quite a bit of work, but it does seem to be possible.
