Word Clouds for Phoenix Game Development.com

I have been working my way through some online training provided by Social Talent. This is aimed mostly at the recruitment field, but there is a lot of useful information about Search Engine Optimisation, and profile (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc) optimisation. One of the tools I have learned about is Wordle. This website is a free resource which takes a URL or a block of text and produces a customisable “word cloud”, showing the relative frequency that each word appears in the text.
This is very useful for SEO, since search engines will look at the frequency of a particular word when prioritising results. Using a word cloud for an article, or a blog post in my case, make it very easy to see which keywords will be given more weight by a search engine for that post. This can then be modified (by changing the wording of the post) to target a particular demographic or search result.
The word cloud can also turn up some unexpected results, for example, this one is a word cloud for THIS post (Visibility Animation Tutorial with 3DS Max):
Shows that the keyword “ScreenHunter” is prominent for this blog post, much more so that a lot of other, more relevant keywords. ScreenHunter is the name of the program I used to take screen shots for my blog posts, and it appends each screenshot with the word “Screenhunter” and then the date. Since I don’t normally rename the screenshots, every time I make a post containing images, I am essentially advertising that program to google, and de-emphasing the actual subject of the post.
In future therefore, if I was to rename each image with a post-specific title, I could increase the visibility of that post on google.
Word clouds also provide a visually impressive graphic of the subject of the post. Some more word clouds I have created follow.
