P0-MS4: Part 240: Infinite Universe, FTL Travel, Smooth Movement

I have built my project into an .exe, and run it from that for testing purposes. So far, everything seems to be going very well. Performance is acceptable in the built (Framerate can be a little low in the editor) and the quality and resolution of the GUI’s and controls is acceptable as well.

The next step is to allow the ship to reliably move at high speed while the player is on board. I have been working on a concept where I move the world, and not the ship itself, and this seems to work well, but I still need to finalise it.

I have increased the altitude of the players starting position above the terrain. This dramatically reduces the amount of processing that the movement system needs to perform, and will not affect the game, since I have decided that, for various reasons, large capital ships should not be able to enter the atmosphere of planets. This means that I should be more easily able to handle the high speed movement of these ships.
